The mission of the Church is to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world by proclaiming the good news of God's grace and by exemplifying Jesus' command to love God and neighbor, thus seeking the fulfillment of God's reign and realm in the world.
We are a community formed by God, whose Holy Spirit will help us to take our blinders off and open our eyes to see the needs of the people around us, and then will empower us to help with what is needed. With our eyes opened, we, as a worshiping community, will not only uphold all that we do with prayer, but we also will pray with people who want and need prayer, for those who have no faith in God, for those who may differ with us, and for peace in the world. All that we do will be with a caring and compassionate heart.
Seeking to make disciples, we will encourage broad involvement and participation by persons of both genders, young and old alike. We will especially seek to involve and build the faith of the younger generation, helping our young people to develop a strong foundation that will prepare them for living a life in Christ and for becoming the church of the future.
The Larger Community of Which Our Church Is a Part:
Just as John Wesley saw the world as his parish, we see the world around us and, in particular, the Walker community as our parish. We believe that we should be out in the community, spreading hope and the good news of Jesus Christ through our loving example and our helping hands—truly being “salt and light” to those around us. Through our ministry and missions we will show the hope of the Gospel to all generations. Our desire is to lead people to seek God willingly through a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and to become a part of God’s Church. We hope to make disciples for Jesus Christ and show that God is present in the world for all.
With our blinders off, we will be a people of peace, respect, and compassion in our daily lives, offering our God-given gifts and talents as He intends for us to do—our bodies, budget, schedule, and minds.Together, as a community formed by God and as His servants, we celebrate being the church, the body of Jesus Christ. We are a community-based organization focused on helping make the world around us a better, happier place. With the help of our tireless staff, we organize fundraisers, exciting community-building events, and in-depth training sessions for our volunteers.
